Still hasn't reached the pricepoint where I'd consider buying it. I used to play a shit out of original Shogun, but the latter Total War games have failed to grab me like it did.

i can get it for 18€ here in winland, can't be much more expensive elsewhere.

Wait, so exactly how does one play this in multiplayer?

ive had it for ages as a (ghasp!) pirated download, simply because ive been burned too many times in the past by the total war series and its promised glory, seldome lived up to.

But i just bought it (im downloading it now) on steam and i thought id check in on this multiplayer thingy...

also, can you play multiplayer with mods? cos im not really happy with vanilla shogun2 :/

i suppose you can play with mods, you could do so with previous total war games if i recall.

the multiplayer works like this.

you have map of japan infront of you and you choose area which you want to conquer, once you've done this you play battles against other player's, if you win 1 match or lose 3, you conquer that territory and then you can choose new area which to attack.

clan wars work similiary except that territory is controlled by clan with most points in said territory, you earn clan points for your clan my simply playing matchmaking, points are added to territory your army is on on your conquest map.

here's link to 2 v 2 me and dom played a while ago, watch it and enjoy us outplaying our opponents Very Happy

when you watch it, keep in mind they both outranked me by 4 ranks, which means their armies in theory were superior to mine, dom was on same rank with them and in that sense, equal.

just shows you can outplay opponent with more games and better units with proper tactics and good team work.

as sidenote, i love matchlocks Very Happy

Oh dear god, i had forgotten how much i hate the vanilla total war unit speeds and such...

thank god i had the sense to download shogun realism and slower unit speeds mods... and a few other mods (but those are mostly cosmetic, like removing the arrow trails and increasing unit variety)

slower? everything is already really slow Shocked

but you can't use mods for matchmaking, and for custom games, other player's need same mod you have.

i know... but i cant stand the game vanilla so no multiplayer for me i guess...
and things are not slow... not if you are a student of old historical battles like i am... hell, those things could last for days sometimes!

you just dont run that fast with full body armor and weapons... so yeah, slower it is...

EDIT: oh and i forgot the automatic garrison thingy when i started my campaign and got thuroughly beaten... but my general made a heroic last stand when the enemy caught up with his retreat: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IBAHTN07

well, game's have to be abit more fast paced, i can't imagine anyone sitting 2 - 3 days in front of their monitor Laughing

you should try hearts of iron, man that game takes ages on harder difficulties.

im not saying we should sit for days, im just saying that it needs to be slower than if they were all hopped up on speed and running naked...

did you check out my replay?

the thing about mods is they add certain values to game, but originals are still there, beacuse of that you can watch vanilla replays.

i don't have your mods so basicly my game would try to replay it, but it wouldn't recongnise values replay is giving to it and would either A crash or B display replay with vanilla values, which could end up being completely diffrent game.

i DL it and watch since im actually kinda curious what happens if i try to replay it Cool

im curious too then...
tell me how it works out...

(if you want to watch it all you need is the slower units mod and the shogun realism mod... both avalable at http://www.twcenter.net/ and you just have to find the realism mod thread on their forums to find the other mod)
